Volunteering is Rewarding

Volunteering Experience: Want to have fun, meet new people, help wildlife? Become a volunteer with the Bayou Cocodrie National Wildlife Refuge. Volunteers are actively involved in many of the refuge programs. Volunteers put in more than 500 volunteer hours each year to directly benefit the wildlife and habitat of the refuge.

There are three refuges in this complex. The other refuges in the complex are St. Catherine Creek and Cat Island.

One of the best ways to experience the refuge is to leave your car behind and start walking. Bayou Cocodrie National Wildlife Refuge has walking opportunities for all ages and abilities, including the Cypress Creek Trail and the Observation Tower Trail. Also, Cocodrie Bayou is designated as a state scenic river.
