Energy and Environment promotes U.S. innovation and industrial competitiveness in areas of critical national priority by anticipating and meeting the measurement science and standards needs for energy efficient, high-performance green buildings used in construction and manufacturing in ways that enhance economic prosperity and improve the quality of life

Fire Research promotes U.S. innovation and industrial competitiveness in areas of critical national priority by anticipating and meeting the measurement science and standards needs for fire prevention and control used in manufacturing, construction, and cyber-physical systems in ways that enhance economic prosperity and improve the quality of life.

Intelligent Systems promotes U.S. innovation and industrial competitiveness in areas of critical national priority by anticipating and meeting the measurement science and standards needs for intelligent cyber-physical systems used in manufacturing and construction in ways that enhance economic prosperity and improve the quality of life. 

Systems Integration promotes U.S. innovation and industrial competitiveness in areas of critical national priority by anticipating and meeting the measurement science and standards needs for integrating engineering information systems used in manufacturing, construction, and cyber-physical systems in ways that enhance economic prosperity and improve the quality of life  

Offices

Smart Grid Program Office promotes U.S. innovation and industrial competitiveness in areas of critical national priority by anticipating and meeting the measurement science and standards needs for cyber-physical systems in ways that enhance economic prosperity and improve the quality of life. Carries out mission functions under the Energy Independence and Security Act of 2007 "to coordinate development of a framework that includes protocols and model standards for information management to achieve interoperability of smart grid devices and systems", including dissemination of the framework to the Federal Energy Regulatory Commission for adoption as may be necessary once sufficient consensus has been achieved. 

Applied Economics Office provides economic products and services through research and consulting to industry and government agencies in support of productivity enhancement, economic growth, and international competitiveness, with a focus on improving the life-cycle quality and economy of constructed facilities.
