From the Serengeti plains to the lush Congo Basin, Africa is home to many of the world’s most spectacular animals and ecosystems. Gorillas, chimpanzees, savanna and forest elephants, and white and black rhinos are just some of the iconic species found only on the African continent. African wildlife and their habitats, however, face many threats, often exacerbated by poverty, corruption, and lack of capacity.

Since 1989, the U.S. Fish and Wildlife Service has worked to provided support to more than 700 partners in Africa, with projecs that target key threats to wildlife and their habitats, strengthen capacity and forge partnerships, and build a better evidence base for conservation.
