Come face to face with the Region's trout, explore karst terrain, and see our exhilarating exhibit hall! Much more awaits the entire family in a fun and engaging educational journey at Wolf Creek National Fish Hatchery! Visitors are welcome to tour the hatchery, Visitor/Environmental Education Center, and to fish in the creek! Hatchery grounds are open 365 days a year while the Visitor/Environmental Education Center remains open 364 days annually (only closing on Christmas Day). FREE visitation! Nature Hour

Open to all ages, no cost to attend!

Each time you attend a session you will receive a ticket. Bring your own reusable water bottle with you each time and receive an extra ticket! At the end of the year we will have a prize drawing.

Fly Fishing Clinics

Flyer for fly fishing clinics, details below.
  • Learn more about fly fishing and hatchery creek.
  • 2nd Saturday of each month.
  • RSVP - One week prior to clinic.
  • Cost - Every effort will be made to offer FREE clinics, a nominal fee may apply.
  • We encourage you to bring your own equipment - equipment will be provided on a limited basis.
  • Please dress appropriately for the weather, each class may include an outing.
  • Classes may be cancelled or rescheduled due to weather - Call the hatchery for details.

2nd Annual Hatchery Creek Trout Trot 5k

Registration fee: Early bird on or before March 13: $20 Late Registration after March 14: $25.

Schedule

  • Registration: 8:00 - 8:45am CDT
  • Race Begins: 9:00am CDT
  • Awards following the race.

Race Day Details

  • Post race finish line awards with special trout medallion prize medals awarded to 1st, 2nd, and 3rd place in each category.
  • Award categories: Male and Female - Age groups 12 & under, 13 - 19, 20 - 29, 30 - 39, 40 and over.
  • Jogging strollers only, dogs on leash are OK.
  • Runners 8 and under must be accompanied by an adult.
  • Course - Off road gravel trails - minimal pavement, some hills, may cross waters, easy to moderate terrain, along portions of Hatchery Creek and Cumberland River.
  • Proceeds go to sponsor Friends of Wolf Creek NFH - School Field Trip Scholarship.
  • Water and snacks provided.
