NIH COVID-19 Candidate and Technologies Portal

Purpose

The National Institutes of Health (NIH) COVID-19 Candidate and Technologies Portal collects data on diagnostic, vaccine, and other candidates or technologies with near-term potential for testing against COVID-19, as well as other information that could be leveraged in the response to COVID-19. This portal assists NIH in developing an inventory of information with the potential to aid in preventing or mitigating SARS-CoV-2 infection.

Background

In response to the COVID-19 pandemic, the NIH has launched several initiatives aimed at speeding innovation, development, and commercialization of diagnostics, therapeutics, vaccines, and biomedical technologies (collectively known as medical countermeasures). These initiatives include the Rapid Acceleration of Diagnostics (RADx) initiative, the Accelerating COVID-19 Therapeutic Interventions and Vaccines (ACTIV) partnership, and other COVID-19-specific focus areas across NIH.

The NIH COVID-19 Candidate and Technologies Portal helps address the needs of the various initiatives by cataloging information on potential and available diagnostic, vaccine, and other candidates or technologies. NIH works closely with Federal partners, including the Biomedical Advanced Research and Development Authority, the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention, and the U.S. Food and Drug Administration to coordinate the rapid acceleration of development for promising medical countermeasures.

Please note that information submitted to this portal may be released to other parties, including but not limited to NIH’s Federal, non-profit, industry and international partners, and may be disclosed to the general public.  The information will be stored on an NIH server and may become publicly accessible in the future.

Submission Instructions

To submit information for a diagnostic, vaccine, technology, or other information for the awareness of NIH, please fill out the NIH COVID-19 Candidate and Technologies webform below with all required information. If interested in submitting therapeutic candidates for review by the ACTIV public private partnership, please use the ACTIV COVID-19 Clinical & Preclinical Candidate Compound Portal.

Stakeholders throughout the biopharmaceutical, academic, scientific research, advocacy, clinical practice communities, and the general public are welcome to submit via either portal as appropriate.

Please note that the NIH COVID-19 Candidate and Technologies Portal is for information and planning purposes only and shall not be construed as a solicitation or funding opportunity; as a contract, grant, cooperative agreement, or other transaction; or as an obligation on the part of the Federal Government, the NIH, or individual NIH Institutes and Centers to provide support for any ideas identified in response to it. The Government will not pay for the preparation of any information submitted or for the Government’s use of such information. No basis for claims against the U.S. Government shall arise as a result of a response to this Portal or from the Government’s use of such information.

NIH will use the information submitted to the Portal at its discretion and will not provide comments to any responder’s submission. The information provided will be stored on an NIH server, and should not contain proprietary, confidential, or trade secret information as it may be released to other parties, including but not limited to NIH’s Federal, non-profit, industry and international partners, and may be disclosed to the general public.  The submission of any information constitutes consent for NIH to use and publicly distribute such information at its discretion. The submitted information will be analyzed and may appear in reports. Respondents are advised that the Government is under no obligation to acknowledge receipt of the information received or provide feedback to respondents with respect to any information submitted.

Following submission, should additional information be desired, a representative of NIH may be in contact. Your input is a valuable component in developing a response to the COVID-19 pandemic, and your time and consideration are appreciated.
