America’s First Ladies: An Enduring Legacy

As part of the Centennial Celebration for President Gerald R. Ford, we invite you to commemorate Betty Ford’s 95th Birthday by attending “America’s First Ladies: An Enduring Legacy” on April 8th with special guests First Lady Barbara Bush (invited), First Lady Laura Bush and Susan Ford Bales.

Campaign for the Legacy of Gerald R. Ford

On November 9th, The Foundation’s board of trustees met with area business and community leaders to share a vision aimed at creating global access to the Gerald R. Ford Presidential Museum’s and Library’s exhibits and documents through the funding of a $15 million dollar capital campaign.

Gerald R. Ford Administration Alumni

One of President Ford’s greatest strengths as a leader was his self-confidence and sense of security around others. The advisers he appointed included a large number of extremely bright, capable people who would go on after the Ford administration to render further outstanding services and successes.

State Funeral and Tribute

View historic photos and read the Tribute Book from the Funeral Ceremonies for Gerald R. Ford. Ford died on December 26, 2006 at his home in Rancho Mirage, CA and his interment at the Ford Museum in Grand Rapids, MI occurred January 3, 2007.

Tribute to Mrs. Betty Ford

Soon after Mrs. Ford’s passing, preparations began for a Remembrance Week honoring a beloved First Lady and founder of the Betty Ford Center. Services were held in Palm Desert, California and East Grand Rapids, Michigan, concluding with her interment at the Gerald R. Ford Presidential Museum.

Library and Museum

The Gerald R. Ford President Library and Museum are separated geographically but together they provide visitors and students with a unique glimpse of the 38th President. Both provide permanent exhibits, accessible archival materials and special events.

Gerald R. Ford Statue Dedication

U.S. Congressional members joined with Friends and Family for the Statue Dedication of President Gerald R. Ford on May 3, 2011 in the U.S. Capitol Rotunda. Speaker John Boehner and other Congressional members hosted the Dedication.
