This week: WTO members are holding a workshop on Aid for Trade to follow up on the work on trade costs. They will review how indices measuring and comparing trade costs across various economies can be integrated into Aid-for-Trade programming. This will be followed by a formal session on Aid for Trade of the Committee on Trade and Development. An amendment to the agreement on intellectual property entered into force on 23 January 2017 securing for developing countries a legal pathway to access affordable medicines under WTO rules. Amina Mohamed, Kenya’s Cabinet Secretary for Foreign Affairs, says she is proud that African countries played a major role in bringing about this amendment which is an important tool to access medicines.
