RevCom: Project Justification Statement to Revise and Convert DOE Guide (G) 441.1-XX to DOE Handbook, Implementing Release and Clearance of Property Requirements for use with DOE O 458.1, Radiation Protection of the Public and the Environment

Draft DOE G 441.1-xx, was issued for use and comment in 2002 to assist in the implementation of Order DOE 5400.5 property clearance (now DOE Order (O)458.1). This action will update the guidance and convert it to a Handbook to continue providing information to assist Department of Energy (DOE) Program and Field Offices in understanding and implementing the Department’s release and clearance of property requirements. DOE O 458.1 establishes Departmental requirements for the release and clearance of property. The intent is to produce a Handbook that provides implementation guidance to support DOE’s diverse missions and ensure the continued protection of the public and the environment. Additionally, the Handbook will incorporate a consolidated list of approved pre-approved authorized limits supporting DOE O 458.1 clearance of property requirements.
