Creating a Better Workplace Environment to Support our Service Members, Veterans and their Families
Many Americans, including Service Members, Veterans and their Families (SMVF), spend most of their daily lives at work. Most workplaces are relatively unprepared to support SMVF facing challenges as they transition and navigate the civilian workplace. This distinction requires the workplace to be considered an essential component of taking a comprehensive public health approach to suicide prevention. Workplace wellness and health care programs must be transformed to significantly reduce, screen for, and prevent suicide among SMVF. Employers need to create cross-functional teams that are well-prepared and practiced at responding immediately and effectively to troubling workplace behavior. By integrating best policies and practices in the field through resources, training, and communication strategies, employers have the opportunity to create a culture of health in the workplace.

This webinar will provide information, resources, tools, and recommendations that will help participants to understand the important role they play in creating a healthy and inclusive environment for their SMVF colleagues and employees, and how to begin to take steps towards implementation of supportive and preventative measures.
