About Us
The American Lung Association is leading the way in helping all Americans breathe easier. Thanks to our donors, volunteers, program and event participants, and staff, we are America’s trusted source for lung health education, lung disease research, support, programs, services and advocacy.
Mission, Impact & History
For more than a century, the American Lung Association has led the fight for healthy lungs and healthy air. Today, we are focused on eliminating tobacco use and related lung disease, improving overall air quality for all and reducing the burden of lung disease on patients and their families.
Our Leadership
Our Boards represent a cross-section of scientists, healthcare and policy professionals and local advocates fighting for air. Their engaged leadership informs the work of dedicated staff at the national, charter and state level.
Scientific Advisors
Our Scientific Advisory Committee and Lung Cancer Medical Advisory Panel provide strategic guidance that inform all our efforts.
