CBP Environmental Documents
The Department of Homeland Security (DHS) and U.S. Customs and Border Protection (CBP) have prepared the following documents to identify, assess, and sometimes measure the potential environmental impacts associated with proposed actions. In most instances, these documents have been prepared pursuant to the National Environmental Policy Act of 1969, 42 U.S.C. 4321 et seq., (NEPA); the Clean Air Act of 1970, as amended; the Clean Water Act of 1977, as amended; the National Historic Preservation Act of 1966; the Archaeological Resource Protection Act of 1979; various Executive Orders (EOs), and applicable laws and regulations.
Additionally, some of the documents on the site have been prepared in response to waivers issued by the DHS Secretary. These Environmental Stewardship Plans (ESPs) – and corresponding Environmental Stewardship Summary Reports (ESSRs) – are very similar in approach and content to traditional NEPA documents and were created to fulfill the DHS Secretary’s commitment to responsible environmental stewardship. How to Use this Site
This site has been developed to facilitate public review of the following types of environmental documents and to provide information on how and where to submit comments on documents for which CBP is seeking input. Documents are segmented into one of three categories:
