About The Artist

Adolph Alexander Weinman

Adolph Alexander Weinman trained at the Cooper Union for the Advancement of Science and Art in New York, eventually apprenticing for the renowned Augustus Saint-Gaudens, who President Theodore Roosevelt personally selected to redesign our Nation’s coins in 1905. Weinman considered himself an architectural sculptor, and his work was part of many landmark buildings, including the old Pennsylvania train station in New York City. When the station was demolished to make way for Madison Square Garden, the public outcry energized the historic preservation movement. This effort saved some of Weinman’s sculptures and found them new homes all over the Nation. You can find them preserved today in works like Kansas City’s Eagle Scout Tribute Fountain. In addition, Weinman’s architectural sculptures can be found on major public buildings throughout the country.

American Eagle palladium coins continue to be a popular extension of the Mint’s American Eagle series and unique addition to its overall numismatic portfolio. Palladium is a precious metal that accentuates the intricate detail of Weinman’s designs, which are reminiscent of our turn-of-the-20th century coinage. Similar in color to silver or platinum, palladium has a subtle difference to its appearance. Each American Eagle palladium coin is composed of .9995 fine palladium, has a nominal face value of $25, and has the “W” mint mark of the West Point Mint. Be among the first to add these exciting new coins to your collection.
