All work-related injuries at the NIH must be reported to your local OMS.
OMS clinicians obtain the worker’s account of the circumstances of the incident, perform a targeted physical exam and offer necessary medical care. Medical care may include surgical closure of minor wounds, providing prescription medications, acupuncture, immunizations, splints, physical therapy, and follow-up medical care.
In addition to providing care for the injured worker, OMS staff works closely with safety specialists assigned to your Institute or Center to minimize the potential for other workers to be similarly injured.
