Air Quality

Definition: Indoor Air Quality (IAQ) refers to the air quality within and around buildings and structures.

Indoor Air Quality and Indoor Environmental Quality Requests

DOHS provides indoor air quality surveys and indoor environmental evaluations with theOffice of Research Facilities Development and Operations (ORFDO.) If you have an indoor environmental concern, contact ORFDO or submit an issue escalation request.

Indoor environmental concerns are referred to the Building Engineer and Facility Manager since most concerns can be resolved through the use of simple environmental controls and adjustments. We provide indoor air quality surveys when the issue cannot be resolved. We also conduct surveys at the request of Occupational Medical Service (OMS) healthcare professionals with specific medical guidance.

Odor Complaints

If you work on the NIH Main Campus and have an odor complaint, please report it immediately to theNIH Department of Fire and Rescue. They will respond appropriately.
