Western Community Policing Institute (WCPI) was established in 1996 as one of the national networks of Regional Community Policing Institutes (RCPI). Funded by the U.S. Department of Homeland Security Office of Grants and Training (DHS) and U.S. Department of Justice Office of Community Oriented Policing (COPS), WCPI provides national training and technical support on issues vital to community safety. With over 75 years of combined experience, WCPI employs highly qualified full-time staff with extensive educational and professional public safety backgrounds.

Located on the campus of Western Oregon University in Monmouth, OR, WCPI maintains the highest standards of training development by delivering national training courses that adhere to the adult learning principles, including problem-based learning. Existing training topics include: Homeland Security, Community Policing, Ethics, Crime Prevention, Weed and Seed, Tribal Youth Leadership, Tribal Policing, Developing Teams, and Domestic Violence Prevention.
