The United States Mint is proud to honor the legacies of President George H.W. Bush and First Lady Barbara Bush with new releases in two of our most acclaimed series—Presidential $1 Coins and First Spouse Coins.

The 2020 George H. W. Bush Presidential $1 Coin honors the 41st President of the United States whose long career in public service included serving as a Member of Congress, Ambassador to the United Nations, and the Director of Central Intelligence. He was elected Vice President from 1981 to 1989 and President from 1989 to 1993. The obverse of the Presidential $1 Coin depicts President Bush while the reverse features the Statue of Liberty.

The Mint’s First Spouse Gold Coins honoring Barbara Bush celebrate her work promoting family literacy as shown through imagery depicting a person reading, with an open road symbolizing knowledge and life’s journey. The obverse of the First Spouse Coin illustrates Mrs. Bush with her characteristic warmth and positive disposition.
