Berkeley Community Scholars are scrambling to find places to live after being displaced from dorms and grappling with their own and their parents’ loss of work. They face the real prospect of being unable to complete their classes, much less afford to return to school. They also need temporary housing, funds for groceries, day to day hygiene needs, and, increasingly, mental health services.

BCS is raising $50,000 for its Emergency Fund. The needs of BCS scholars will grow immensely in the coming weeks and months as they grapple with the "new normal."

During school closures in the West Contra Costa Unified School District due to the COVID-19 crisis, the West Contra Costa Public Education Fund will be directing community donations to support families in need identified by the WCCUSD Office of Family & Community Engagement. Support could include groceries, internet services, and other emergency needs that help stabilize families during this crisis. The Fund is seeking donations.

In partnership with the Oakland Unified School District, the Oakland Public Education Fund has launched the “COVID-19 Rapid Response Fund for Oakland Kids & Schools”.
