Shyima Hall Slavery Case
More than a decade ago, 10-year old Shyima Hall was brought to Southern California by an affluent Egyptian couple who forced her to sleep in the unheated garage of their upscale home at night and spend her days serving as a maid to the couple and their five children. She was not allowed to go to school or play outside, and washed her own clothes by hand in a bucket. Shyima’s case stemmed from an investigation by Homeland Security Investigations (HSI) and the Irvine, Calif. Police Department.
