    The Fall 2016 issue of AAMVA's MOVE Magazine is now available! This very special issue celebrates the magazine's 20th Anniversary, taking a look at 20 years of NMVTIS, DMV information systems, and online customer service. The issue also looks into how identity management has changed over the last two decades, and features a Q&A with Betty Serian, winner of the 2016 Chair's Award of Excellence.     Delaware Joins State-to-State; Alaska to Follow

    AAMVA congratulates Delaware on successfully implementing the State-to-State Verification Service (S2S) during the weekend of December 18, 2016, becoming the 12th participant using the new service. Delaware will now be able to use SPEXS to perform its CDLIS and S2S functions, and can now track pointer information related to its Base Driver Licenses, Permit for Base Driver Licenses, and Identification Cards. This supports, among other goals, limiting any person to only one driver's license. All migration activities have completed as per schedule. CDLIS and S2S services are fully operational now. Following Delaware, Alaska is the next state poised to benefit from the S2S functionality, and is scheduled to become a S2S state over the weekend of January 28. More details are available here.

    Region IV Board MeetsRegion IV Board Meets - December 2016

    The Region IV Board met last week in Seattle to commence planning of the 2017 Region IV Conference. The Board reviewed the 2016 conference program, activities, and financials. Attendance in Portland was the second highest in Regional conference history. They also began planning efforts for the 2017 Regional in Seattle. Conference dates are May 21-24. By-law changes were discussed and the Board of Director's Guide was reviewed and revised. The Board voted to once again provide travel grant funding for Region IV members to attend both the Workshop and Law Institute and the Regional Conference.  

    CSTIMS Participation Update

    AAMVA congratulates Texas on becoming the thirty-eighth jurisdiction using the Commercial Skills Test Information Management System (CSTIMS). Texas will now be able to use CSTIMS to track the scheduling and entry of test results for commercial skills tests by jurisdiction and third-party examiners and to look-up Out-of-State test results.     State to Eliminate Vehicle Registration Stickers (Pennsylvania) 

    Pennsylvania is doing away with renewal stickers for license plates in a change designed to save millions. The Pennsylvania Department of Transportation will stop issuing the stickers at the end of December, producing more than $3 million in annual savings of production and mail costs.     Vermont officials say immigrants living in the state illegally don't need to worry that information they gave the Department of Motor Vehicles to get "driver's privilege cards" will cause trouble with federal immigration authorities.     Maryland Unveils New Mobile Breath Testing Truck

    It is the time of year law enforcement really steps-up drunken driving enforcement. During December, Maryland averages 13 driving under the influence deaths and 280 injuries. But there is a new tool being used in the fight: the first mobile breath testing truck of its kind in the state of Maryland. The truck is 27,000 pounds, 13 feet high and costs $425,000.
