How to Change Your Address

We strongly encourage you to update your address with USCIS to ensure you receive all correspondence and benefits from us in a timely manner and avoid possible delays related to your case.

Changing your address with the U.S. Postal Service will not change your address with USCIS. Please update your information with both USCIS and USPS.

If you fall into any of the categories below, please read the information in the corresponding section. However, most individuals can change their address in two ways:  

  • Through your existing USCIS online account if you filed your form online; or  
  • Filing Form AR-11, Alien’s Change of Address Card, online using the Change of Address page (as long as you didn’t file one of the forms in the sections below). Filing Form AR-11 online will update your address on all pending applications, petitions, or requests that you include on the form. You do not need to mail Form AR-11 if you use the change of address webpage.    

Victims of Domestic Violence, Trafficking, and Other Crimes

If you previously filed and/or have a pending or approved form in the chart below, you must mail your Form AR-11, Alien’s Change of Address Card, to the Vermont Service Center address listed in the chart below. (This includes any form you file after that.) You do NOT need to call the USCIS Contact Center. We strongly recommend using certified, registered, or return receipt mail when sending your Form AR-11. This will give you proof that you mailed the form to us.

If you filed:

Then mail your Form AR-11 to:
  • Form I-360, Petition for Amerasian, Widow(er), or Special Immigrant (as a VAWA self-petitioner);
  • Form I-485, Application to Register Permanent Residence or Adjust Status (as an abused spouse under the Cuban Adjustment Act; as an abused spouse, parent, or child under VAWA; or as a T or U nonimmigrant);
  • Form I-765, Application for Employment Authorization, filed by VAWA self-petitioners and T/U nonimmigrants;
  • Form I-765V, Application for Employment Authorization for Abused Nonimmigrant Spouse;
  • Form I-914, Application for T Nonimmigrant Status;
  • Form I-914, Supplement A, Application for Family Member of T-1 Recipient;
  • Form I-918, Petition for U Nonimmigrant Status;
  • Form I-918, Supplement A, Petition for Qualifying Family Member of U-1 Recipient; or
  • Form I-929, Petition for Qualifying Family Member of U-1 Nonimmigrant

Form I-751 Abuse Waivers

If you previously filed for a waiver of the I-751 joint filing requirement because you and/or your conditional resident child were abused, you must mail your Form AR-11 to the corresponding address in the chart below. (This includes any form you file after you submitted your abuse waiver.) You do not need to call the USCIS Contact Center. We strongly recommend using certified, registered, or return receipt mail when sending your Form AR-11. This will give you proof that you mailed the form to us.

If you are a U.S. citizen or national, we strongly encourage you to update your address if you have a pending case. Follow the guidance at the top of this page.

If you are a U.S. citizen or national and have submitted an affidavit of support for another person, you must submit Form I-865, Sponsor’s Notice of Change of Address, within 30 days of your move.

Civil Surgeons

Attorneys of Record/Registered Representatives

If you are an attorney of record/registered representative, do not complete Form AR-11. Instead, go to our Filing Your Form G-28 page for information on updating your address.
