National marine sanctuary offices and visitor centers closed to the public; waters remain open

The waters within NOAA's national marine sanctuaries are open for responsible enjoyment, in accordance with local guidance and regulations.

NOAA's Office of National Marine Sanctuaries is working to ensure that our staff and their families, volunteers, and visitors are safe. Following the most recent guidance from the Centers for Disease Control regarding the coronavirus, sanctuary offices and visitor centers will remain closed until further notice.

Please check individual sanctuary websites for the latest information regarding visitor center closings and meeting cancellations. Parents, teachers, and students interested in learning about ocean science, conservation, and stewardship are invited to check out our online education resources, including virtual photos and videos, webinars, activity books, and lesson plans.

Know Before You Go:

Note, mooring buoys are not currently being maintained and the sanctuary assumes no liability for use of the buoys. Once normal on-water activities are restored, we will resume buoy maintenance as soon as possible.

Follow CDC guidance and check local restrictions in your community, including with the pertinent state agency.
