Classroom Training Courses

The Section 106 Essentials is an 8-hour course for anyone interested in an overview of the Section 106 review process. The course is particularly helpful for managers/decision makers and early-career cultural resources practitioners and focuses on applying the vocabulary and principles of the Section 106 review process in real-world scenarios.
The Section 106 Agreements Seminar is a four-hour course that builds skills in managing consultation and documenting agreed upon steps to resolve adverse effects in a Section 106 review of a federal undertaking. The seminar is designed for cultural resources, environmental, and legal practitioners who are fluent in the Section 106 implementing regulations and the review process.

COVID-19 Emergency

Because of the COVID-19 Emergency, the ACHP has CANCELED all of our in-person classroom courses in 2020. We are also not proposing or contracting for any new by-request and tailored in-person classroom courses in 2020.

By-Request and Tailored Digital Classroom Courses

The ACHP offers two approaches to meet the Section 106 training needs of federal, state, tribal, and local agencies and other organizations:

  • By-request courses: Any of the ACHP's digital classroom courses can be scheduled at a date and time convenient to the course sponsor. Course content, materials, and classroom experience are the same as our open-enrollment courses with the ease of using your videoconferencing system. By-request courses offer cost savings for larger groups (20 or more) Due to the COVID-19 Emergency, the ACHP is not making new commitments for in-person classroom courses in 2020. Webinars can also be scheduled by request at a cost savings for 15 or more log-ins.

  • Tailored courses: The ACHP staff develops digital classroom training ranging from a 4- to 8-hours based on an organization’s individual needs. Due to the COVID-19 Emergency, the ACHP is not making new commitments for in-person classroom courses in 2020. We can also develop webinars or e-Learning products by request. Content, exercises, reference materials, and delivery methods can be designed to meet specific goals the organization has for improving federal historic preservation review and compliance programs.
