As a Traditional Corps member, you and your team will serve on at least four different projects in different states and cities within your assigned region of the country. Projects are designed to address one or more of these issue areas:
Energy Conservation
Educate communities on sustainability and energy-use best practices, weatherize homes to protect families, or start a recycling program.
Conduct initial efficiency assessments or support an existing sustainability and energy conservation program.
Environmental Stewardship
Use your green thumb to plant trees, blaze new hiking trails, or restore protected lands.
Explore new environments as you build walls to control erosion, improve habitats to protect wildlife, or conduct prescribed burns to nurture and safeguard habitats.
Infrastructure Improvement
Beautify neighborhoods, renovate schools and other public buildings, or build ramps and footbridges to increase community accessibility.
Build, paint, and install informative signs or demolish unsafe public buildings to increase child and neighborhood safety.
Natural and Other Disasters
Be there after disaster strikes to clean up and support impacted Americans.
Collect and distribute food to those affected, muck and gut damaged homes to allow for rebuilding, or work with the American Red Cross to facilitate support efforts.
Urban and Rural Development
Be a catalyst for community improvement; construct homes, tutor students, or grow and harvest food in a community garden.
Help individuals complete their tax returns, collect and distribute food, water, or home goods to those in need, or facilitate a summer youth program.
