About Funding

NINDS supports and conducts research, both basic and clinical, on the normal and diseased nervous system. Approximately 90% of the overall budget of NINDS is used to fund extramural research through a variety of funding mechanisms.

Training & Career Development

The Office of Training & Workforce Development (OTWD) and the Office of Programs to Enhance Neuroscience Workforce Diversity (OPEN) support the training of students (high school, undergraduate and graduate), postdoctoral fellows, clinician-scientists, and faculty across NINDS research areas.
