ASPR Mission and Key Priorities
ASPR advocates for the sustainment of robust and reliable public health security capabilities by partnering with the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention, and other components of HHS. This includes an improved ability to detect and diagnose 21st century health security threats and the capability to rapidly dispense medical countermeasures in an emergency.
To promote robust and reliable public health security capabilities at the federal, tribal, state, territorial, and local levels, ASPR advocates for:

Enhancing disease situational awareness domestically and abroad, including detection, identification, and investigation.

Strengthening disease containment, including capabilities for isolation, quarantine, social distancing, and decontamination.

Improving risk communication and public preparedness.

Ensuring rapid medical countermeasures distribution and dispensing in an emergency.

Growing the next generation of leaders to marshal the best minds in science and health.

Modernizing response and recovery capabilities to address the nation’s immediate and future health security threats.
