We are excited about all of the wonderful programs we have going on and would like to take time to share an exciting invitation about the next feature! We are happy to share our new CWV Women Veterans Book Corner, which will highlight some of our Nation’s amazing women Veteran authors.

Highlighted Women Veteran Authors

November 2020 — Angelica “Angel” Pilato, Lt. Col. USAF (Ret.), Ph. D. — Angel is the author of Angel’s Truck Stop: A Woman’s Love, Laughter, and Loss during the Vietnam War

How to Participate

Are you a woman Veteran author, or do you know of one? If so, please download and complete the submission form. Once complete, we request that you return the submission form and 3-5 good photos (at least one of them should be in uniform. The bigger, the better, and good resolution is important. Consider scanning a physical photo if you do not have a digital copy readily available) to 00w@va.gov with subject of “CWV Authors Book Corner submission” for Author of the Month. It is important that you include as much of the requested material as possible, as it is necessary to complete and publish to our site.

Background

The Women Veteran Authors Book Corner Initiative was developed to create a place for women Veterans to come together and support their sister Veterans who are authors, share in their stories, and learn more about their journey. This initiative will highlight the amazing contributions of women Veterans in all capacities, increasing awareness about the women Veteran authors who are in our communities and give them a platform to come together, share their love for reading with their sister Veterans, and inspire them who seek to become authors.

The purpose of this initiative is to recognize women Veterans who are published authors; create a platform for women Veterans who enjoy reading and writing to come together, encourage each other and share; and inspire other women Veterans to express themselves through writing.
