The Treatment Episode Data Set (TEDS) provides demographic information and describes the characteristics and outcomes of treatment for alcohol and/or drug use among clients aged 12 years and older admitted to treatment at facilities throughout the 50 states, the District of Columbia, U.S. territories, and other jurisdictions. TEDS includes treatment admissions at facilities that are licensed or certified by a state substance abuse agency to provide care for people with a substance use disorder (or facilities that are administratively tracked for other reasons). In general, facilities reporting TEDS data are those that receive state alcohol and/or drug agency funds (including federal block grant funds) for the provision of alcohol and/or drug treatment services.

The National Survey of Substance Abuse Treatment Services (N-SSATS) is an annual survey of facilities providing substance abuse treatment. It is conducted by the Substance Abuse and Mental Health Services Administration (SAMHSA). The N-SSATS collects data on the location, characteristics, services offered, and number of clients in treatment at alcohol and drug abuse treatment facilities (public and private) throughout the 50 states, the District of Columbia, U.S. territories, and other jurisdictions.

It is conducted by the Substance Abuse and Mental Health Services Administration (SAMHSA). The N-MHSS collects data on the location, characteristics, services offered and number of clients in treatment at mental health treatment facilities (public and private) throughout the 50 states, the District of Columbia, U.S. territories, and other jurisdictions.
