I invite you and your staff to attend a forum from 9 a.m. to 11 a.m. on August 3, 2005, to discuss the Federal student loan repayment program. The forum will be held in the Campbell Auditorium at the Office of Personnel Management, 1900 E Street, NW., Washington, DC.

The General Accountability Office (GAO) recently issued a report on the Federal student loan repayment program and made a number of recommendations to improve the effectiveness of the program. A copy of the report is available on the GAO Web site at http://www.gao.gov/new.items/d05762.pdf. At the forum, we will discuss GAO's recommendations, listen to your thoughts and concerns, and discuss ways to improve this valuable recruitment and retention tool.

I encourage you to invite your student loan repayment program managers to join us at the forum and take full advantage of this opportunity. For further information, you may contact Gene Holson at (202) 606-2858.
