About the Ombudsman

Ombudsman

The Corporation for Public Broadcasting ombudsman is an independent observer of public broadcasting and its adherence to the highest standards of journalistic integrity regarding accuracy, transparency, balance and objectivity, as well as diversity and taste. The ombudsman decides on his/her own which programming and broadcasts are reviewed and what reports are made. The ombudsman's published reports focus on material already broadcast on public airwaves.

While CPB neither produces, distributes nor controls programming, the ombudsman responds to complaints and inquiries, regularly reports on individual concerns and explains journalistic practices. The ombudsman’s office is eager to help in any way possible and welcomes all thoughts, observations and concerns on public media and public media journalism. Feel free to contact the office of the CPB ombudsman for guidance, direction or concerns you feel have not been adequately addressed.
