Food Composition

FoodData Central is an integrated data system that provides expanded nutrient profile data and links to related agricultural and experimental research.  FoodData Central handout available for sharing.

The mission of the Methods and Application of Food Composition Laboratory (MAFCL) is to identify critical food composition needs for researchers, policymakers, food producers and consumers.

Nutrient Lists are available in the following static formats: Adobe portable document format (pdf), comma separated values (csv) and Microsoft Office Excel (xlsx).  Search the Standard Reference Legacy database.

Summaries of essential facts about nutrients: food sources, diet recommendations, deficiencies, toxicity, clinical uses, recent researches, and references for further information on micro- and macronutrients.

View food consumption data and reports from the FSRG, including the "What's In The Foods You Eat" survey. FSRG monitors and assesses food consumption and related behaviors of the American population.

All TDS foods are analyzed for elements, pesticides, industrial chemicals, and radionuclides. Certain foods are analyzed for mercury. Refer to the food/analyte matrix on the Foods and Analytes page of this website to determine which TDS foods are analyzed for each analyte group.

• Macronutrients - includes general and specific resources on carbohydrates, proteins, fiber, fats and cholesterol, water, as well as interactive tools.
• Phytonutrients - includes general information, government-related sites, and resources on specific phytonutrients such as tea, lycopene, and phytoestrogens.
• Vitamins and Minerals - includes general information as well as resources for specific vitamins and minerals.
