The Government of Mali has announced that as of December 10, 2020, there were 5,814 confirmed cases of COVID-19 in Mali, including 194 deaths and 3,591 recoveries.
The Government of Mali has implemented enhanced screening and quarantine measures to reduce the spread of COVID-19. Travelers should be prepared for additional travel restrictions to go into effect with little or no advanced notice.
Check with your airline prior to travel regarding restrictions and COVID-19 testing requirements for Mali and for any countries through which you intend to travel to and from Mali. You may be required to present a negative COVID-19 test result prior to departing Mali.
Certain U.S. visa holders may be restricted from entry into the U.S. when traveling from or through the Schengen Zone, the United Kingdom, or Ireland. Before you reserve your return ticket from Mali to the U.S., please see U.S. Visa News.

Entry and Exit Requirements:

Are U.S. citizens permitted to enter? Yes, incoming air travelers are required to:

Wear a mask.
Complete a form with contact information, travel history and health symptoms. The form is available online at sante.gov.ml and www.anac-mali.org.
Present a negative COVID-19 test dated no more than seven days prior to arrival in Mali.

Is a negative COVID-19 test (PCR and/or serology) required for entry? Yes

Are health screening procedures in place at airports and other ports of entry? Yes

Any passenger who arrives without a negative COVID-19 test result or with a COVID-19 test result dated more than seven days before arrival will have their travel documents retained by airport officials and will be subjected to testing. Travelers must self-quarantine at home or at a hotel at their expense until the test result is available. Anyone suspected of having COVID-19, despite presenting a negative COVID-19 test result, will be subject to testing. If test results are positive, that person’s travel documents will be retained, and the traveler will be put into isolation at a government of Mali facility. The travel documents will be returned once the patient is deemed free of COVID-19.
Travelers should be prepared for changes to entry requirements with little or no advanced notice.

Quarantine Information:

Are U.S. citizens required to quarantine? No
Any person who does not have a valid negative COVID-19 test result or is suspected of having COVID-19 will be isolated at the border and a COVID-19 test will be conducted.

COVID-19 Testing

COVID-19 testing is offered at local hospitals in Bamako, the fee is 55,000 CFA. Visit the Malian Ministry of Health website for updated information on COVID-19 in Mali.
The United States Government does not plan to provide COVID-19 vaccinations to private U.S. citizens overseas. Please follow host country developments and guidelines for COVID-19 vaccination.
