COVID-19 Information – Jamaica

Country-Specific Information:

  • Medical services in Jamaica are limited. Please read our general information regarding medical assistance in Jamaica.
  • The Government of Jamaica has developed “Resilient Corridors” for tourism. Visitors should expect their movement around the island to be limited.
  • Large gatherings are restricted and there are limits on the number of attendees for funerals and weddings. For more information please visit the Jamaica Ministry of Health and Wellness COVID-19 portal.
  • The United States Government does not plan to provide COVID-19 vaccinations to private U.S. citizens overseas. Please follow host country developments and guidelines for COVID-19 vaccination.

Entry and Exit Requirements:

  • Are U.S. citizens permitted to enter? Yes
    • U.S. Citizens must request a travel authorization and upload proof of a negative PCR test. Read more and request the authorization at https://www.visitjamaica.com/.
  • Is a negative COVID-19 test (PCR and/or serology) required for entry? Yes
  • Are health screening procedures in place at airports and other ports of entry? Yes
  • Visitors requesting to extend their stay in Jamaica may do so through PICA: http://www.PICA.gov.jm

Movement Restrictions:

  • Is a curfew in place?  Yes
  • Are there restrictions on intercity or interstate travel? Yes

Quarantine Information:

  • Are U.S. citizens required to quarantine? Yes
    • Visitors to the island are requested to quarantine at their location of arrival for up to 14 days, depending on type of travel. More information is available at https://www.visitjamaica.com/.

COVID-19 Testing:

  • All COVID-19 tests are administered at the discretion of the Jamaica Ministry of Health and Wellness. Visitors to Jamaica may be tested on arrival and/or if they seek medical care.
  • If a visitor tests positive for COVID-19, they will be placed in isolation at their accommodation, intended stay location, or government facility as determined by the Jamaican Ministry of Health and Wellness.
  • Release from isolation is determined by the Jamaican Ministry of Health and Wellness using symptom-based or infectiousness period data. Release may be granted 14 days from diagnosis; however, it may be longer, depending on the individual case.

    • There are some limits to number of individuals permitted inside taxis and other methods of public transportation . Please refer to the Jamaica Tourist Board for more information on Jamaica’s COVID-19 related transportation restrictions.

  • Non-compliance with curfew, quarantine, or other COVID-19 related restrictions could result in fine, arrest, or immediate order to depart the country.
