VA is supportive of women Veterans deciding when motherhood is right for them. Whether women Veterans are ready to start or expand their family or interested in preventing pregnancy, VA offers a full range of services for women Veterans to support their reproductive goals, including providing Maternity Care Coordinators (MCC) for those women Veterans looking to start or expand their family. MCC understand women Veteran's needs and can help them navigate health care services inside and outside of VA throughout pregnancy to ensure timely and continuous care.
Women Veterans deserve the best care anywhere, and they can receive all of their pregnancy care at VA. A planned pregnancy is a healthier pregnancy, so talk to your provider today if you want to become pregnant. Choose VA for your maternity care services.

Sourcebook Volume 4
Sourcebook Vol.4
The Women’s Health Evaluation Initiative (WHEI) analyzes centralized, national VHA databases to inform Women's Health Services strategic policy and program planning objectives. Among WHEI’s products have been a series of Sourcebooks.
Like Sourcebook Volumes 1, 2, and 3, the current Sourcebook—Volume 4—describes sociodemographic characteristics, health care utilization patterns, and medical conditions of women Veteran patients in VHA. However, Sourcebook Volume 4 includes more recent data and, for the first time, portrays longitudinal trends across a 16-year time horizon, focusing on cohorts of women Veterans using VHA at four Fiscal Year (FY) timepoints: FY00, FY05, FY10, and FY15. Sourcebook Volume 4 thus provides a view of how the population of women Veterans using VHA has been evolving across a 16-year period coinciding with rapid VHA women’s health care delivery system advances, and points to directions for readying the system for future expansion of the number of women Veterans using VHA. In this time of physical distancing, VA knows it’s easy for women Veterans to feel isolated. Life plans and health can change in an instant. That is why VA is working to remove barriers and improve access to essential services. These services include reproductive health care, refilling prescriptions, and accessing the Veterans Crisis Line and Women Veterans Call Center.
As states and cities across the nation have issued stay-at-home orders, VA encourages Veterans enrolled in VA health care to take advantage of our virtual tools to access care. These include secure video appointments from home, mobile health apps and online appointment requests. Learn more here.
