Briefly

OLGA LIEFERT is an Economist with the Crops Branch, Market and Trade Economics Division. She is the international analyst for wheat and feedgrains, whose activities include monitoring and analyzing production, use, and trade throughout the world, attending the monthly ICEC meetings, writing the international sections of monthly ERS/USDA reports on wheat and feedgrain markets, and contributing to the annual USDA baseline projections. Olga also is a specialist in agriculture in the countries of the former Soviet Union, in particular Russia, Ukraine, and Kazakhstan

Background

Before joining ERS, Olga was a research economist at the Russian Institute for Economics in Moscow, and after that worked for 4 years for the Organization for Economic Cooperation and Development in Paris. She also has been a consultant for the Food and Agriculture Organization in Rome. Prior to joining ERS as regular staff in 2008, Olga worked as a consultant for the agency.

Education

Olga received her M.S. and Ph.D. in Economics from Moscow State University.
