The Princeton Plasma Physics Laboratory (PPPL) is operated by Princeton University under contract to the United States Department of Energy (USDOE).  PPPL is the only USDOE laboratory fully dedicated to the research and development of fusion as a safe and virtually inexhaustible energy alternative.

PPPL is an autonomous organization within the Princeton University structure.  PPPL regular staff members are Princeton University employees, but the Laboratory community includes a significant and dynamic mix of graduate students; visiting faculty and staff from universities, DOE laboratories, and foreign research organizations; subcontractor employees; and consultants.
