Partners and Their Roles


The NOAA Office for Coastal Management facilitates the integration of the fellow selection and project selection process by:

  • receiving and processing the project proposals
  • convening panels to evaluate project proposals and potential fellows
  • participating in the fellow and project selection panels
  • providing logistical and programmatic support during the placement workshop
  • coordinating funding for the fellows

State Coastal Zone Management Programs provide assistance and participate by:

  • submitting project proposals
  • hosting fellows to work on state projects
  • identifying a nonfederal source for the $15,000 cost share for the two-year fellowship

Digital Coast Partnership Organizations provide assistance and participate by:

  • submitting project proposals
  • hosting fellows to work on projects that advance the goals of the Digital Coast and its partner organizations
  • identifying a nonfederal source for the $15,000 cost share for the two-year fellowship

The Sea Grant College Program provide assistance and support by:

  • interviewing fellow applicants in the initial selection process
  • endorsing up to three (3) fellow candidates each odd year and four (4) in each even year
  • participating in the fellow and project selection panels

The NOAA Office for Coastal Management and the Coastal States Organization provide assistance by:

  • participating in the fellow and project selection panels
