National Advisory Council for Complementary and Integrative Health (NACCIH)

Overview

The National Advisory Council for Complementary and Integrative Health (NACCIH) is charged with the responsibility of advising, consulting with, and making recommendations to the Director, NCCIH, on matters relating to the research activities and functions of the Center. The role and responsibilities of the council members include secondary review of grant applications in light of NCCIH scientific program priorities and program balance.

The council consists of 18 voting members. In addition there are five non-voting ex officio members: the Secretary, DHHS; the Director, NIH; the Director, NCCIH; the Chief Medical Director of the Department of Veterans Affairs; and the Assistant Secretary of Defense for Health Affairs (or other designee). Appointed members serve for up to 4-year terms.
