Summary

The Maritime Administration (MARAD) plays a significant role meeting the Nation’s economic, environmental, and security needs by improving the U.S. marine transportation system. We plan to initiate a comprehensive review of MARAD’s controls over its operations given MARAD’s recent organizational changes and growing oversight responsibilities for Federal funds. Our audit objective is to assess MARAD’s management controls for (1) planning, performance measurement, and risk management; (2) organizational structure and workforce development; and (3) program implementation, monitoring, and oversight of core mission requirements.
