  1. USDA Designates Nine Vermont Counties as Primary Natural Disaster Areas

    WASHINGTON, Nov. 18, 2020 — Agriculture Secretary Sonny Perdue designated nine Vermont counties as primary natural disaster areas. Producers in Addison, Bennington, Caledonia, Chittenden, Essex, Orange, Washington, Windham and Windsor counties who suffered losses caused a drought that has occurred since June 1, 2020, may be eligible for U.S. Department of Agriculture (USDA) Farm Service Agency (FSA) emergency loans.

    WASHINGTON, Nov. 16, 2020 – The U.S. Department of Agriculture reminds dairy producers that the deadline to enroll in Dairy Margin Coverage (DMC) for calendar year 2021 is Friday, Dec. 11, 2020. USDA’s Farm Service Agency (FSA) opened DMC signup in October to help producers manage economic risk brought on by milk price and feed cost disparities.

  3. USDA to Open Signup for the Conservation Reserve Program and CRP Grasslands in Early 2021

    CONCORD, NH, Nov. 12, 2020 – The U.S. Department of Agriculture (USDA) today announced the 2021 signup periods for general Conservation Reserve Program (CRP) and CRP Grasslands offers. General signup for CRP will be open from January 4, 2021 to February 12, 2021; signup for CRP Grasslands runs from March 15, 2021 to April 23, 2021. Both programs are competitive and provide annual rental payments for land devoted to conservation purposes.

  5. 2020 Farm Service Agency County Committee Elections Underway

    WASHINGTON, Nov. 9, 2020 — The U.S. Department of Agriculture (USDA) has mailed ballots for the Farm Service Agency (FSA) county committee elections to eligible farmers and ranchers across the country. To be counted, ballots must be returned to the local FSA county office or postmarked by December 7.
