Western Colorado Area Office
The Western Colorado Area Office consists of two offices, located in Grand Junction and Durango, and several field offices with projects encompassing western Colorado, northwestern New Mexico, and northeastern Arizona. The office is responsible for Reclamation projects and program activities in the Upper Colorado, Gunnison, Yampa, White, Dolores, Uncompahgre, Animas, and San Juan river basins and works with the Ute Mountain Ute Tribe, Southern Ute Indian Tribe, Jicarilla Apache Nation, and Navajo Nation, as well as numerous water user organizations.

Reclamation solicits proposals for hydropower development at Taylor Park Dam
GRAND JUNCTION, Colo. – The Department of the Interior is delivering on its promise to facilitate the development of non-federal hydropower on Reclamation projects by soliciting proposals to lease the right to develop hydroelectric power at Taylor Park Dam, part of the Uncompahgre Project, located near Gunnison, Colorado, under a Lease of Power Privilege. An LOPP is a contractual right given to a non-federal entity to use a Reclamation facility for electric power generation consistent with Reclamation project purposes. Read More

Reclamation extends comment period on alternatives to reduce salinity and improve water quality in the Colorado River
GRAND JUNCTION, Colo. – The Bureau of Reclamation is extending the public comment period on a draft Environmental Impact Statement that analyzes alternatives to reduce salinity in the Colorado River from sources in the Paradox Valley in western Colorado.
