Summary

On December 8, 2009, we initiated a review of computer security and controls of the Automatic Dependent Surveillance Broadcast (ADS–B) system. We are conducting this review at the request of the Chairmen and Ranking Members of both the House Committee on Transportation and Infrastructure and its Subcommittee on Aviation.

Our audit objectives are to determine whether: (1) ADS–B security requirements specified in the contract have been properly defined and satisfied by the contractor; (2) the contractor is following FAA’s security architecture in developing ADS–B; and (3) security risks have been identified and mitigated by the contractor.
