The CIA's Office of Security is actively seeking individuals who currently are, or are interested in becoming federally certified Polygraph Examiners. Polygraph Examiners are being hired to successfully complete a five-year Polygraph Examiner tour. Upon successful completion of the five-year tour, Polygraph Examiners will be re-evaluated to determine if mission needs will allow the examiner to become a full time staff employee within the Office of Security.

Polygraph Examiners screen and vet individuals in support of the CIA's mission and protect this nation's classified information.

There are multiple entry-level through full performance Polygraph Examiner openings.

*Upon successful completion of the federal Polygraph Examiner certification training program the officer will receive Polygraph Premium Pay.

Minimum requirements: These positions require a five year contract term employment agreement. Contract Term Agreement. Candidates must have a Bachelor's degree or higher in any field from an accredited college or university with a minimum GPA of 3.0, an interest in and aptitude for polygraph examiner work, excellent oral and written communication skills, and possess a valid US driver's license. Polygraph Examiners work in a potentially confrontational environment on a daily basis, and must have excellent interpersonal and representational skills, and the ability to work independently, as well as part of a team. Applicants should have levels of professional and personal integrity, trustworthiness, and loyalty to the United States.

Desired qualifications:

• Qualified federal Polygraph Examiner certification status fully accepted with only an abbreviated internal re-certification required
• A broad range of interests, and must be informed on a wide range of topics
• The ability to routinely relate to and interact with people from a wide range of cultures, backgrounds and expertise
• Tenacity, confidence, maturity, organizational skills, ability to manage multiple taskings concurrently, as well as give/take direction.

Applicants accepted into the CIA's Polygraph Examiner Program who are not currently federally certified examiners will be trained and certified. All positions require a minimum five-year commitment and are primarily located in the Washington, D.C. area with potential domestic and foreign travel opportunities available after a few years. All applicants must successfully complete occupational testing to include an aptitude test, writing test, personality inventory, and personal interview.

All applicants must successfully complete a thorough medical and psychological exam, a polygraph interview and an extensive background investigation. US citizenship is required.

To be considered suitable for Agency employment, applicants must generally not have used illegal drugs within the last twelve months. The issue of illegal drug use prior to twelve months ago is carefully evaluated during the medical and security processing.
