OIG Hotline

The OIG hotline is an avenue to report allegations regarding fraud, waste, abuse, serious misconduct, or whistleblower reprisal related to an NCUA employee program, operation, or grant.  For further information on the types of issues to report, please click on the link What Should Be Reported.

You may contact the OIG by:

• writing to the National Credit Union Administration, Office of Inspector General, P.O. Box 25705, Alexandria, VA 22314.

Complainants should provide the following information if possible:

• A brief, accurate statement of facts believed to provide evidence of wrongdoing
• Names, addresses, and office locations of pertinent individuals and organizations, including those who may have information about the suspected wrongdoing
• Dates when the suspected wrongdoing took place or is expected to occur
• How the complainant became aware of the information
• Contracts, invoice numbers, or other related documents

Confidentiality and Whistleblower Protection

For NCUA employees, the Inspector General Act provides that after the OIG receives a complaint or other information from an NCUA employee, the OIG shall not disclose the identity of the employee without his or her consent unless the Inspector General determines such disclosure is unavoidable during the course of our investigation.  The OIG also will protect the employee’s identity as appropriate under the Privacy Act and the Freedom of Information.  For additional information, NCUA employees may refer to NCUA Instruction 1910.08.

Complainants who are not NCUA employees are not covered by the Inspector General Act’s confidentiality provision.  However, complainants may request confidentiality and the OIG will consider that request and will protect the complainant’s identity as appropriate under the Privacy Act and the Freedom of Information Act.  You also may remain anonymous when contacting the OIG.  Depending on the nature of your complaint, anonymity could prevent us from investigating the complaint or impede our ability to have the case prosecuted.
