NTP Laboratory Research

Intramural laboratory research complements NTP's scientific capabilities by developing and conducting in vitro assays for understanding potential health-related effects of environmental and occupational exposures. Current research focuses on:

  • The pathogenesis/carcinogenesis of tumors affecting the reproductive tract of rodents and humans
  • The role of microglia interactions with neurons and the associated immune-mediated responses in brain development and aging
  • Assays for chemical class characterization and potential high-throughput initiatives
  • The effect of environmental chemicals on mammary gland development
  • The role of stem cells in disease manifestation induced by exposure to environmental toxicants
