Enhancing capabilities and
enabling greater scientific impact
Joint appointments between PNNL and other research institutions provide new and diverse opportunities for researchers to expand their knowledge and impact. Incoming and outgoing appointments elevate the scientific impact and productivity of researchers at both institutions by:
- fostering collaborative research;
- deepening and broadening capabilities;
- facilitating transdisciplinary research;
- providing access to specialized instrumentation and other research tools; and
- giving students and interns new educational and training opportunities.
PNNL's active and growing joint appointment program includes more than 160 researchers from over 40 university and non-profit research institutions in the United States and abroad. The appointments are flexible, ranging from 0 to 100% commitments at the host institution.
Current partner institutions are shown below; see the Joint Appointees webpage for a complete list of participating researchers.
