Analysis & Information (A & I) Online

The Analysis and Information (A&I) Online website provides motor carrier safety information to FMCSA and State enforcement personnel - as well as motor carriers, insurers, shippers, and the public to help promote analytically sound, safety-conscious decisionmaking. The site provides descriptive statistics and analysis about commercial vehicle and driver safety and the programs and countermeasures that the FMCSA has implemented to improve safety.

Motor Carrier Management Information System ( MCMIS) Catalog

The Federal Motor Carrier Safety Administration (FMCSA) maintains the Motor Carrier Management Information System (MCMIS). MCMIS contains information on the safety fitness of commercial motor carriers (truck & bus) and hazardous material (HM) shippers subject to the Federal Motor Carrier Safety Regulations (FMCSR) and the Hazardous Materials Regulations (HMR). This information is available to the general public through the MCMIS Data Dissemination Program.

Safety and Fitness Electronic Records (SAFER) System

The Federal Motor Carrier Safety Administration has provided carrier safety data to industry and the public for many years via telephone requests and paper reports.

The SAFER System makes it possible to offer this information electronically. Limited SAFER functions are now provided free of charge over the Internet. Access is provided to Carrier Snapshots , a concise electronic record of a carrier's identification, size, commodity information, and safety record, including safety rating (if any) and roadside out-of-service inspection information. The carrier snapshot is available via an ad-hoc query (one carrier at a time) service which can be accessed by connecting to the SAFER System website, and clicking on the SAFER Database Query link highlighted there. Other functions will be available for a fee at a later date.

Safety Measurement System (SMS)

The Federal Motor Carrier Safety Administration's (FMCSA) SMS is an automated system that quantifies the on-road safety performance of motor carriers so that FMCSA can identify unsafe carriers, prioritize them for intervention, and monitor if a motor carrier's safety and compliance problem is improving.
