Trusteed Pension Plan

Has Your Plan Been Trusteed by PBGC?

When a single-employer defined benefit pension plan (a traditional pension) can no longer meet its obligations and has ended, PBGC may take over that plan (trustee).  When that happens, PBGC will be responsible for continuing payment of your monthly pension benefit or pay it when you become eligible to collect benefits (up to legal limits). You can learn more about this by visiting our page What To Do if Your Pension Plan Ends.  If you have recently been notified that your plan has been recently trusteed by PBGC you may also want to visit New to PBGC. Unsure about your plan's status? You can search for it below.

Need Help?

You can find your pension plan name and PBGC case number on any letter you have received from PBGC. You can search on your case number. If the case number for your plan begins with zeros, leave off any leading zeros when searching for your plan on this site. For example: If your plan number is 08336500, please enter "8336500" into the search box.

If you don't have a case number, try searching by company (or plan sponsor) name.

Found Your Plan. Now What?

If your plan is listed and you have questions about your benefits, please review the information on this website, or call the PBGC Customer Contact Center at 800-400-7242. PBGC Customer Contact Center hours are 8 a.m. to 7 p.m. Eastern Time, Monday Through Friday (except Federal holidays). TY/ASCII users, call the federal relay service at 1-800-877-8339 and ask to be connected to 1-800-400-7242.

Cannot Find Your Plan?

If your private defined benefit pension plan has ended but is not listed here, please call your pension plan administrator or the PBGC Customer Contact Center. PBGC's number is 800-400-7242. If your pension plan has not ended, please check our insured pension plans listing.
