NIH OTT Open Data Initiative
The NIH Office of Technology Transfer (OTT) has embarked on an ambitious project to make sure that as much of the technology transfer-related data generated at NIH and CDC is made available to the general public. We have done this though four specifc paths (in order of effficiency):
- Providing an API for third party websites and developers to connect, and access any and all records. More details on the specifics of the API can be found here
- Providing the entire dataset in one XML file here
- Providing an easy to use web interface that is not only searchable, but also provides for permalinks for filtered data stream. For example, the following URL will always provide a listing of the latest technologies available for licensing that mentions the words "mouse" and "model"-- http://www.ott.nih.gov/opportunities?body_value=mouse+model
- Providing an RSS Feed. For example, this link will provide an RSS Feed of all available technologies for licensing-- http://www.ott.nih.gov/feed
