Dr. Neil Boothby speaking at a press conference in Geneva to launch the “Mimimum Standards for Child Protection in Humanitarian Action

In humanitarian situations across the world, children are likely to make up half or more of the population affected by conflicts or disasters. On October 29, 2012, the Child Protection Working Group (CPWG) launched a long-awaited set of interagency minimum standards for child protection developed as common guidelines for the global humanitarian community. USAID’s Neil Boothby, UNICEF’s Annette Lyth, and Mike Penrose from Save the Children discussed the new standards at a press conference at the United Nations Office at Geneva.
