ATF is a principal law enforcement agency within the United States Department of Justice dedicated to preventing terrorism, reducing violent crime, and protecting our Nation.  The men and women of ATF perform the dual responsibilities of enforcing Federal criminal laws and regulating the firearms and explosives industries to protect against crime, violence, and other threats to public safety.

Prior to assuming his role as the Assistant Director, HRPD, Mr. Gerido was the Deputy Assistant Director Field Operations-Central (DAD FO-Central).  In this position, he was responsible for ATF law enforcement operations for 1/3 of the Nation, covering 19 states in 8 field divisions, including Chicago and Detroit, and spanning as far south as New Orleans.

Special Agent Gerido was promoted to DAD (FO) after having served as the Special Agent in Charge (SAC) of the Nashville Field Division, responsible for ATF enforcement operations in Tennessee and Alabama.  He has held a number of senior leadership positions including Assistant to the Director from June 2014 to April 2015; SAC of the Baltimore Field Division from October 2012 to June 2014; and Assistant Special Agent in Charge of the Nashville Field Division from March 2009 to October 2012.

Special Agent Gerido was commissioned as a Special Agent with ATF in 1991, stationed in Atlanta, Georgia, for 8 years, investigating violent crime and violations of Federal firearms, narcotics and arson laws.  In July 1999, he was assigned to ATF Headquarters as a Project Officer in the Violent Crimes, Firearms, Explosives, and Arson Division, and served as a Program Manager in the Office of Liaison and Public Information, where he was later detailed to the Office of the Director.  Special Agent Gerido was selected as the Group Supervisor for the Baltimore Violent Crime Impact Team, from September 2002 to March 2009.  In August 2009, he was named presented with ATF’s Outstanding Supervisory Employee of the Year (Runner-up) award for charging and clearing more than 24 gang-related homicides in Baltimore City in a three year period.

Special Agent Gerido received a bachelor’s degree in Criminal Justice from Savannah State University in 1990 and earned a Masters of Public Service Management degree from Cumberland University in 2012.  He has completed leadership programs at Boston University (Senior Management Institute for Police) and the University of Virginia, and is a member of the Senior Executive Service and the International Association of Chiefs of Police.  Special Agent Gerido is a proud member of Omega Psi Phi Fraternity, Incorporated.
